No. Practices are not feasible. Many parents, coaches, and players have conflicting schedules, especially with players living in different areas.
Once rosters are finalized, coaches will reach out to players' guardians/parents with an introductory email or text within a day. Please ensure your contact information is accurate. A quick in-person coach meeting is scheduled at the start of the event on that Friday at the park.
Player selection will be based on a variety of factors including statistics, athleticism, player and parent attitude, coach recommendations, and director evaluations. Coaches will receive player selection cards to distribute to their teams on Sunday.
Coaches will flip a coin or discuss before each game to determine home and away teams. White jerseys are for the home team, and dark for away. If you don't have your assigned jersey by Sunday, which is unlikely, wear anyone you like.
Coaches will ask a parent from each team to volunteer to run GameChanger or if GameChanger is not available, keep a book.
Some age groups will have an uneven number of teams, requiring one or two teams to play four pool play games instead of three on Friday or Saturday. To balance this, teams playing four games can drop their worst result when determining Sunday's seeding.
Parents can pick up their player's uniform, items and addition gear (if ordered) beginning at 11 AM on Friday at their assigned locations. These items will also be available for pickup throughout the weekend.
Skills registration is optional. Please register online (link is below) from now untill the Tuesday before the event. On-site registration will not be available.
Head coaches and assistant coaches will each receive a hat. Coaches may wear their travel team's t-shirt and shorts.
All players must wear white knickers or white pro-style pants with a belt and a pair of socks that match their all-state uniform colors.
Higher seeds will be the home team during bracket play. For pool play, teams will determine home and away status via a coin flip at the player meeting.
Please utilize the following rules and bylaws for all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday games.
Use a Continuous Lineup: Include all available players in the batting order for every game.
Invert Lineup for Second Game & Every Game Thereafter: Simply reverse the order of the lineup you used in the previous game. This ensures everyone gets a chance to bat early and later in the game order over the course of the weekend.
This approach offers the benefits of a continuous lineup (everyone gets to bat) while aiming to balance at-bats for the entire weekend by flipping the order in the second game.
We will follow the standard USSSA pitching rules for all age groups. To ensure fair play and development, we will implement a rotational defensive strategy. Players will be moved between positions throughout the game, aiming to provide as close to equal playing time as possible.
